Mental Health Awareness Week
Monday 15th May 2023 marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week. In recognition of this Fleming & Reid Solicitors would like to highlight the work of our Mental Health team.
Our team of Mental Health lawyers include Curators ad Litem appointed by the Mental Health Tribunal. The Curator ad Litem is appointed to safeguard the interests of a patient before the tribunal. Consequently, our work is approved by the Mental Health Tribunal Service.
Our dedicated team of lawyers have considerable expertise, regularly representing patients and their nearest relatives at Mental Health Tribunals. As a reflection of his expertise, partner Michael Gallen was invited to sit on the Law Society of Scotland’s Mental Health and Disability Committee, an expert group on mental health law.
In addition to advocacy, our team also deal with all other aspects of mental health law including assisting clients detained under civil provisions, hospital orders and transfer provisions, as well as those admitted formally. Furthermore, our team are experts in Mental Health legislation and can assist in all aspects in particular, representation before Mental Health Tribunal Scotland, Short Term Detention Certificates and Compulsory Treatment Orders.
Fleming & Reid recognise how distressing and confusing these circumstances can be and understand the importance of high-quality advice and expertise for both you and your family. As a result, our team are committed to our clients and will attend upon them at home or within hospital as a matter of priority.
